What better way to start off 2012 then to blog a engagment session of a 2012 couple? Christine and Allan are the ultimate sweethearts! Im so excited to be working on their Summer Wedding at Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica. Planning with them so far has been such a joy, I especially love that Christine's dad is very involved in the process! I think he's the first dad to come to a flower sample meeting, he also lovesss white dance floors :) Modern day version of the original "Father of the Bride"! Congrats C&A, your pics are amazing and I cant wait until your big day!!!!!

Talk about a winter wonderland! When we first met Nare over a year ago she told me that she wanted to feel like she was "floating" in the clouds during her first dance. White dancefloor, a fog machine and 3 ballerinas later I knew she was loving every moment of it as i watched her during the newlyweds first dance! This super detailed, BLING lover went to the extent of custom making her centerpiece stands by hand! Brought to life by the talented Inna of Butterfly Florals & Event Design the ballroom was cascading of all white flowers and crystals. Enjoy!

Skylana & Andy {Shutters on the Beach}

On November 4 the forecast called for "thunder storms"! With a outdoor wedding ceremony planned on the amazing Pacific Terrace at Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica scheduled for 4:00pm we were nervous! We started off the day by setting up both the ballroom and the outdoors for the ceremony. With Plan A & B in place we were just waiting for it to be closer to 4:00pm to decide what to do. As faith would have it the storms stopped at around 3:00, the clouds broke apart and the sun came out! With 45 of their closest family and friends Skylana & Andy tied the knot in a intimate ceremony and a private dinner reception. Skylana stood with her two daughter's as everyone watched the new family come together. The cutest part of the day was Andy giving the two little girls rings before he gave one to their mom... not a dry eye in the room!

We loved the DIY theme of the couple. They purchased their own vintage mason jars for the centerpieces from a local flee market where they also found antique bud vases for the placecards. Skylana wore a fabulous light pink dress made for a princess and had a hand made handkerchief pinned onto her bouquet. The couple brought their light blue vintage bikes to the cocktail hour and had guests write well wishes for them and tie it onto their bikes. What a fun personal touch! We ended the night with a late night snack that included everything from milk shake shots to sliders and fries. A big thank you to the wonderful staff of Shutters on the Beach, we are so fortunate to be one of their preferred planners and love working with couples celebrating their marriage at their amazing property!

Gorgeous models by RMINE, florals that mirrored the modern architecture of the venue and New York Food Company's menu of amazing, succulent, delicious, to die for, OMG menu of cheeses, pates, olives, breads, cured meats, variety of olive oils, and so much more! Over here at Fancy That we personally know the hard work and dedication that is involved in producing a bridal show! That being said we were so happy to support our friend Sarah of Sara Z Events on her annual event The Everything Bridal Show at the Adamson House in Malibu last month! For the first time ever I don't even know where to START when trying to describe my featured couple Sadoux & Jernine! This couple is the definition of "Destiny". From the story of how they first met at a New York City bar, to their love stories of dating in NYC then finally moving to LA and finally their DREAMY wedding celebration that brought together their closest friends and family for the party of the century! Jernine & Sadoux were a pleasure to work with from day one. Cool, calm, collective yet detailed, smart and totally head over heels in love for each other I am happy to call this dream team my newest friends :) Here is a sneak peek at their classy affair at the Trump National Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes filled with fun surprises planned by the bride/groom for one another and elegant details. Then while they cut their cake, the bride had a suprise for her new husband! A Groom's cake was made to duplicate his favorite watch :)

The last wedding I have to share this week is that of Neda & Eidin at one of my favorite venues Vibiana in Downtown LA. I could talk for dayssss about this gorgeous space and the wonderful staff that runs it but you will see by these pictures that the space truly speaks for itself! When I first met the "Afshar Girls" {aka the bride, her two sisters and her mother} I could immediately pick up their cool, calm & collective demeanour. On the wedding day the chemistry between Eidin & Neda transcended throughout every aspect of their celebration to remind me how lucky I am to be apart of so many peoples {Special Day}! Here is a sneak peak at the making of Neda & Eidin's wedding. Looking forward to sharing their awesome professional pics by none other then the dream team of Callaway Gable Photography!

Planning a wedding with Melissa & Dan from 2,000 miles away could not have been any more seamless! From our first conversation over the phone to the dozens of emails back and forth over the course of 6 months, both of them knew exactly what they wanted in their LA wedding! With over 100 guests flying in from Chicago & Canada we wanted to make sure the event was a classy yet fun depiction of the couple! Thank you to the always wonderful @Taglyan Cultural Complex for their outstanding service, Im always in awe at how wonderful they are <3

Today Im going to take you "backstage" at Sara & DJ's Hummingbird Nest Ranch Wedding last weekend!

A few hours into set up the chairs and tables are in place! Thank you Town & Country for always being so great!

Here are the vintage 1938 folding chairs for the ceremony and the lace linen used for the ceremony:

Im putting together the burlap covered wine bottles that will be used for the table numbers. Always love etsy.com for cute ideas like this one! And next our custom place card "table" created out of a Montecito Bar Back. FYI the birdcage had the cutest little love birds in them!

Here comes the bride and all her pretty ladies!

The tables are ready! We had two types of tables, all natural vineyard tables with lace place mats and distressed chivari chairs and round tables with burlap linens and distressed folding chairs! Aren't the avocado raw napkins amazing?

This "exposed" cake was the perfect accessory to this outdoor wedding! Love the lovebird cake topper :)

They did it again! The wonderful ladies of WIPA (Wedding Industry Professionals Association) held a amazing event today at the Church Estate Vineyards in Malibu. The gorgeous backdrop of the venue was the perfect setting to mingle with industry friends. We had a wonderful educational session called "Meet the Editors" where we learned great tips to get published from the Broke Ass Bride, Allison Kornberg {aka the girl who let the public plan her wedding) A editor from the Knot & the owner of Marriage.com. Lunch was spectacular as always, Pauline Perry and her team over at Good Gracious! Events are truly a Dream! We cant wait until the next event :)

Its always nice to have a gorgeous space designed for our classrooms!

A&I @Hummingbird Nest Ranch {Version 1}

Its Tuesday morning after a holiday weekend and were finally recovered & back this morning with all the fun behind the scene pics of this weekends wedding...And what a wedding it was!!! Armen & Iren's celebration consisted of 600 guests, four bands, a beautiful property and gorgeous details in every corner! We were together with a wonderful team that included Eric Films, Kris Kan Photography, Shirvan Florals and Town & Country event rentals. A BIG THANK you to Michelle over at Hummingbird, we couldn't have done it without you!

Here is what the polo field looked like when I first arrived Friday morning....

Town & Country trucks were just pulling up! The Stage was being constructed!

4 Hours Later all the tables were dropped & the chandeliers were out of the trucks!

Hour 9 and the trussing for the lights was about to go up!

Saturday Morning I arrived to the subflooring for the dancefloor being built, linens were on, chivari chairs were ready!

Do you like how we tried to "hide" the luxury porta potty's with hedges?

I was in love with this custom made linen the bride created for her head and cake table, how amazing is it?

The ceremony at the Olive Grove consisted of dozens of hanging double sided mirrors and floral detailed bird cages. A large mirror stood where the couple exchanged vows next to a 8ft bird cage! Looking forward to showing you the professional pics of the space!

Amazing ring boy pillow and flower girl outfits! So Dreamy!

Here comes the bride!

The "placecard" area consisted of 8ft mirrors with gold frames that had each guests names hand written in gold ink. It was put together with a beautiful floral frame. I cant begin to tell you how many guests i saw take pictures in front of the mirrored frames!

The lounge area consisted of various sets of Montecito Furniture and lanterns! Just lovely...

The reception is almost ready! We loved all the various gold leaf vases!

When one cake is just not enough....

Our super bride hand wrapped all of her favors, the details were amazing!

A True Nigerian Celebration

Talk about {ENERGY}! Last Saturday all the stories I had been hearing about Nigerian weddings from my clients Amechi & Reggie throughout the year came to life and I have to admit I was mesmerized from start to finish! I am a lover of culture, I love bringing in various cultural elements of the bride and groom into their wedding day. This wedding was ALL ABOUT culture. The Nigerian people are fun, vibrant, artists who love to dance, eat and enjoy themselves! They have strong women with elaborate dresses and headpieces who show pride in who they are and where they come from. Their men are fun, great dancers and look sharp in sequins!

At their wedding reception a strict schedule is followed {see below for their program} that starts off with the recognition of the high table {love that! this is wear the elders and families are sitting}. followed by a prayer and the blessing of the kola nut. Throughout the night there are various entrances by the bride and groom in their new asoebi and dances by each mother with women from their village. Our favorite part of the wedding was that the bride chooses a fabric and gives it to all the women from the same village and they sew their own dress so all around the room u will see clans of women in the same fabric but each with individual unique gowns!

Last but not least we walked away from the wedding with a lesson in "African time!" .... Lets just say the rehearsal was planned for 2:30 and the bridal party arrived at 4:30!

We loved getting to know Amechi and Reggi and working on this wedding along with the lovely Jacqueline Coligan, the Social Catering Manager at the Hilton and the lovely women behind the fun blog Lock & Key! Enjoy my pics!

The Perfect Baby Shower

About a month ago one of our beautiful former brides called to discuss a baby shower she was hosting for her best friend. The shower was only a month away and Sara was exploding with ideas! She showed me dozens of inspiration photos that she had been collecting and we discussed how to make them all a reality. One of the ideas she was obsessed with were silk covered box's with dainty ribbons on them used as pedestals for the centerpieces. I suggested she make it a DIY project and make them herself....... well lets just say Sara gave DIY {do-it-yourself} a whole new definition....! The next few weeks she took on a array of projects including creating her very own paper pom poms made out of the cutest tissue paper you have ever seen and even creating a gorgeous backdrop of her sweets station! Each detail for the event was handmade and embellished {one night we got a facebook message saying her fingered were burnt from too much fun with the glue gun} lol! On the day of the shower I went over to Sara's to help make the centerpieces, I was so impressed when i walked into the "workshop" her and her husband had set up on the dining room table. 10 round glass vases, pre set with foam, floral scissors, buckets full of roses, hydrangeas and peonies {i have to add that she went and purchased peonies 3 days ago and made sure they were open and fluffy before the big day}. Mutiple cars were packed with all of the days decor and we were anxious to see how everything came together! Here are some pics of the PERFECT SHOWER by Sara !

Earlier this week I was beyond thrilled to attend the BizBash Expo & Awards at the Pasadena Convention Center. This one day event planning gathering is the place to be to learn about what is next in the event industry. I spent the morning in educational sessions such as "Design Lab" with Eddie from Tic Tock exploring the world & meaning of color and as session bluntly titled "Do you measure up? The new event standards". Next, I attended the Awards segment of the day where I got to see one of my favorites Richard Loguercino owner of Town & Country Event Rentals be inducted into the BizBash Hall of Fame. It was so inspiring to hear his story that began as a dishwasher for a rental company in Montrose which lead to him working his way up and eventually starting Classic Party Rentals & Town and Country. During the ceremony I also heard Hilary Harris, executive Director of Special Events at Warner Brothers speak about the new trends for 2012. My favorite lesson from the day..... "6 years ago it was cupcakes, 3 years ago it was cake pops, this year its all about mini pies!"

After all that was said and done I was off to the exhibit hall where I visited the spaces of some of the best innovators in the industry!
It was truly a day to be entertained, network, share ideas and be inspired to create incredible events!

We kind of went crazy over Town & Country's new Vineyard Collection {below}!!

The Making of a Wedding {A&J}

We are always sharing the perfect {edited, photo shopped, color corrected} images of weddings but what takes place behind the scenes is what today's post is all about! I wanted to spend this wedding season sharing the "before" & "after" images of the weddings we produce. While our brides are busy being pampered and the guys are having some "man time" with their buddies, we are hard at work making sure everything is perfect for the evening! This past weekend kicked off the start of our official wedding season and we could not have been happier with the outcome! Our 15 hour day at the BREATHTAKING Saddlerock Ranch was streamline from start to finish and most importantly our clients had to be one of the cutest and in love couples I had ever worked with! I was so impressed with the the venue, its lush surroundings, professional staff and various unique elements.
